The Military Education Institute (MEI) works closely with military and government agencies to meet their training needs in any of the division's areas of expertise — including homeland security, maritime security, occupational safetly and health, law enforcement, firefighting, emergency management, and threat reduction and response. Because MEI holds multiple award contract vehicles, we are able to efficiently provide high-quality instructional delivery, program management, curriculum development and customized training programs. MEI has consistently met 100% of our contract requirements and received superior performance evaluations since our first Navy Homeport contract was awarded in 1999.

Fire Academy of the South

The Fire Academy of the South (FAS) provides a wide range of training and educational opportunities to emergency responders in both the public and private sector. Training levels range from basic skills and certification to advanced education with specific technical training, including shipboard fire fighting and aircraft rescue fire fighting.

FAS has state of the art training facility with modern equipment including a new maritime fire trainer. FAS instructors have the knowledge, experience and the industry credentials to provide quality training and certification. FAS also possesses the ability to develop custom curriculum to meet the dynamic needs of the fire service and specific response parameters.

Florida Security Institute

Acquire expert security training.

The Florida Security Institute (FSI) brings the expertise of the public first response sector to private businesses and individuals. Through courses approved by the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), we train students to respond to terrorism, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological and explosive agents.

Our certified maritime security courses provide awareness and response knowledge to officers and other port, facility or vessel personnel. Through a parnership with the Chesapeake Marine Institute, we also offer maritime licensing courses to train seamen in accordance with federal, international and professional guidelines.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has estimated that more than 32 million workers are exposed to 650,000 hazardous chemical products in more than three million American workplaces. This poses a serious problem for exposed workers and their employers.

Through the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), your employees will receive training that is consistent with OSHA standards. IOSH offers the certification and refresher courses that your company needs to stay in compliance with OSHA regulations. Courses are conveniently offered either at Florida State College facilities or at your worksite.

MPSS offers military men and women and their spouses personalized access to regionally accredited education through Florida State College. Our advisors help service members maximize college credits earned for military experience and enroll in the programs that are right for them.
